On April 8th several seventh grade tennis players competed in a small round robin tourney in Knippa. The boys were divided into two groups for singles action. John Dong won first place in his division while Cole Matthews took second place. Nata Perez and Landon Cox tied for third place. In another group, Jaden Rattler won first place. Zac Patino finished in second place and Brain Reading took the third place award. Also getting in some tennis action were Rynaldo Alardin, and Carlos Quiroga. In the girls' singles round robin Kassy Martinez won first place over two Uvalde opponents. In doubles, Kassy teamed up with Kaylea Esser to take second place behind a Uvalde pair. Brooklyn Ramsey and Sophia Garcia defeated another Uvalde pair to win third place.

On April 10th Knippa hosted the junior high tennis meet in Uvalde to come away with numerous awards that included the overall team championship for both the girls and the boys. The Lady Crushers accumulated 50 points to win the girls' team title over the runner up team from Utopia with 20 points. The junior high boys also earned 50 points for the team championship while D'Hanis was runner up with 15 points. Teams from Knippa, D'Hanis, Utopia, Leakey, Rocksprings, Medina, and Nueces Canyon competed in the district meet that was divided in to A and B divisions. In the A division girls' singles. The final was an all Knippa affair with Olivia Faust taking first place over runner up Clair Dean. In the doubles event, Sarah Esquivel and Ashlynn Barboza took first place. Emely Huerta and Dakota Putz won the consolation award. Matthew Santos claimed first place in the A boys' singles. Samuel Mehrle won his fist round then lost in the quarter finals to a D'Hanis boy. In boys doubles, the team of Michael Williams and Caleb Packer won first place with a victory over teammates John Dong and Cole Matthews who won second place. In mixed doubles, the KJHS team of Luke Alejandro and Rylee Dodson won first place over a Utopia team. Bobbi Kigocky and Bryce Archer took the third place award. In the B division, the Knippa boys took first place as a team while Nueces Canyon won the overall team title for the girls' division. In the B boys' singles, Landon Cox won first place over teammate Nate Perez who took second place. In B boys' doubles, Jaden Rattler and Zac Patino won second place while Brian Reading and Carlos Quiroga finished in fourth place. In the B girls' action, Shelby Penney and Paige Balke won first place over teammates Madison Wallace and Makayla Schawe who took second place. Two more girls' teams of Clarissa Ortiz and Catherine Vasquez along with Brooklyn Ramsey and Kaylea Esser both won their opening rounds then lost out in the quarterfinals. In B mixed doubles, the KJHS team of Sophia Garcia and Rynaldo Alardin won the third place medals. Coach Jerry Radicke and Coach Beth Speer are very proud of the young team and look forward to more success at the two remaining tennis events that include a tourney in Del Rio on April 22nd and a team tennis competition in Uvalde on April 28-29.
