Knippa High School Wins Tennis Tournament

The high school tennis players hosted the 17th Annual Rockcrusher Tennis Tournament on March 24 and came away with the championship trophy. Played in Uvalde, 11 teams competed. Knippa edge out Devine for the championship team award with 27 points to Devine's 22 points. Utopia finished third with 14 points.

In varsity boys' singles, Ryan Cox captured second place. Carlos Koehl won the consolation final and Elias Alardin got in two rounds of actions. In varsity girls' singles, Candace Suarez won third place.

In varsity doubles, Diego Esquivel and Jason Samarripa finished in fourth place. Andrew Rowland and Troy Santos won the consolation title in the boys' division. For the girls, Gabby Menchaca and Bethany Keeney won second place while the team of Lizandra Figueroa-Silva and Chanice Rattler won the consolation award.

In mixed doubles, the team of Dylan DeLeon and Kloe Martinez took fourth place.

In the junior varsity competition, Vincent Zavala won the JV boys' singles and David Mehrle took third place. In the girls' event, Nayelli Avila won the singles title while Nathalia Figueroa-Silva competed in two rounds.

in the girls' JV doubles, Sabrina Maltos and Madison Barkley won the first place title. Maiya Esquivel and Kaylin Nandin took third place while Destiny DeLeon and Anna Packer finished in fourth place.
