First and foremost I would like to thank Knippa for welcoming us on campus for a blood drive. I would also like to express my surprise at how quickly the drive was implemented with only a 5 day turn around. On Tuesday the students, family, and staff of Knippa came together to honor one of there own, little Jaxson Martinez. The need to donate blood illustrates how Jackson can be granted life by this neighbors. Small towns such as Knippa always demonstrate the small town, family environment of Texas. The last time a blood drive was held at Knippa was in 2011, so we didn't  know what to expect. The average blood unit draw was 25 there at Knippa in previous years. However, I sensed the passion behind the drive ans set a huge goal of 41 units to be collected Tuesday. When all was said and done 45 donors gave for a total of 60 units! This destroyed all previous records and frankly surprised me. 30 donors were FIRST TIME DONORS!!! This is just a phenomenal display of selflessness and compassion by Knippa ISD. Please share my gratitude for this tremendous outpouring. Each unit of blood can save up to 3 lives .... 180 lives were potentially impacted.
