Maiya Esquivel has spent all her school years at Knippa School. Her fondest memory has been as vice-president of the student council her junior year. In addition to student council, Esquivel has been involved in tennis, volleyball, basketball, UIL, and National Honor Society. “Maiya is one the sweetest, smartest girls I have ever had the pleasure to know. She is a fabulous tennis manager, awesome leader, and I wish her the best,” said tennis coach, Beth Speer. Esquivel will miss random conversations with friends and teachers after graduation, as well as tennis trips with Coach Speer. The years in Barbie Hoffman’s history classes are some of her funniest high school experiences. “She always made everything hilarious,” commented Esquivel. Although her future plans have not yet been decided, Esquivel intends to attend a university and major in something with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Esquivel advises students that memories have way more worth than one or two bad grades. She feels that her accomplishment is how her mindset has changed. “I grew to not mind school and to trust my teachers. They want you to do huge things in life,” stated Esquivel. Esquivel wishes to thank Coach Speer, Mrs. Brauchle, and Mrs.Trevino for making high school the best it could be.
