The Knippa Jr. High girls and boys hosted the Medina Jr. Bobcats on Monday, January 6. The girls were defeated in a close, match-up 30-35. Anissa Gonzalez netted 21 of the 30 total points scored by the junior Lady Crushers. Bella Gatto scored six and Kaylee Foster dropped a basket to add two points. The Jr. High B team boys were overcome by the Bobcats 8-14. Alex Anzaldo, Wyatt Hughes, Aedynn Barboza, and Makai Ortiz scored for Knippa. Medina overpowered the boys’ A team, as well, 14-36. Ryan Santos and Jase Lara both contributed five points for the Crushers. Other players contributing points to the score were Reed Willis and Jack Collins. The High School Crushers were the visiting team in Leakey on Friday, January 10. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams suffered losses. The Lady Crushers were beaten 45-54. Allyna Gonzales racked up 22 points for Knippa. Kayleigh Griffin and Lauren Haughey each contributed seven points each. Katelyn Hernandez, Claire Haughey, and Anna Packer recorded four, three, and two points, respectively. The Rockcrushers fought hard against the Eagles, but lost by two, 50-52. Christian Rattler and Jaden Rattler collectively achieved 28 points, netting 16 and 14. Matthew Santos gained eight, while Garrett Sendejo supplied six to the score. Gabriel Reyes added four points. Luis Hernandez and Caleb Packer impacted the game with two points each. Knippa hosted Medina in the Vulcan Center on Tuesday, January 14. The junior varsity boys posted a 37-18 victory. Preston Stevens and Carlos Quiroga achieved 15 and 14 points, respectively. Robert Zamora and John Garza each scored four points. The Lady Crushers defeated the Lady Cats 57-20. Allyna Gonzales bounced in 23 points.
