The Circuit Crushers Robotics is a group of Knippa students of 4th - 7th graders. This is an overall collaboration between Knippa ISD, Knippa PTO, and Uvalde County 4 H. They are currently in their 3rd year and are coached by Roberto Cantu teacher at Knippa ISD and Amanda Lara (Parent). Competitions will occur during the Spring Semester and will take place at the Rodeos. This year the game is called “Farm to Table”. The teams will be required to build and code an autonomous Lego Robot; they are also required to prepare for 7 known challenges, 1-4 challenges will be revealed at the competition; the challenge is to score the most points in two and half minutes. The competition is designed to test the students ability to engineer their way to a consistent robot performance. Plus an on-the-spot challenge to see what the team can do without coaching support. Currently in Preseason the students are doing problem solving, and team bonding activities. At their latest practice the students were challenged to use materials from a mystery bag to build the tallest self-standing structure to hold a large marshmallow. Team members discussed strategy and planning, while others chose the trial and error approach, with all of them having discussions regarding how to improvise to make their structure better.
