On November 18 2025, Knippa ISD hosted their annual awareness walk for Type 1 Diabetes. Almost every year, Knippa ISD hosts a walk around the campus’s track to honor those who have or had Type 1 Diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is a chronic autoimmune condition where the body does not produce insulin, which is a hormone necessary for cells to use glucose for energy. Symptoms as a result of not properly managed Type 1 Diabetes include chronic high blood sugar which can lead to the damaging of blood vessels and it increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, and vision loss. A few things Type 1 Diabetes affectants have to deal with are monitoring blood sugar frequently, regular checkups, a healthy diet, exercise, and they must sustain a balanced lifestyle. Patients must take insulin daily either through injections or an insulin pump. Knippa ISD hosts a walk to advocate for a cure, and support the Knippa community. With over 1.6 million cases of Type 1 Diabetes in the U.S., every patient deserves the correct care and the families deserve the best for all the support they give. Walk with Knippa and take a stand towards Type 1 Diabetes awareness.
Lots of people came to the walk to support the students that have diabetes so thanks for the people that helped support the students.
