Tuesday September, 16th we celebrate National IT Appreciation Day, this is a day dedicated to all the hard working men and women who keep our technology working and our devices secure. On this day we recognize the contributions of Mr. Cordova, the District Director of Technology. The following is written by him, about his time at the Knippa School.
“I began working for Knippa Independent School District in my early 20s, around 2006. My career in IT started at Southwest Texas Junior College, which is now known as Southwest Texas College. The college was my first IT job, where I worked in the IT department for five years. During those early years, I gained valuable knowledge, ranging from end-user support to networking essentials.
Throughout my time there, I had the privilege of working with some incredible colleagues, many of whom have become lifelong friends. We still stay in touch today, exchanging information about the latest technologies in our field.
In 2005, I was offered a part-time job with Knippa ISD, which presented a better opportunity for growth. In the first few years, student enrollment was relatively low, but over time, the district has experienced significant growth. Throughout my career here, I’ve had the privilege of working with outstanding administrators, teachers, auxiliary staff, and, of course, some very bright students.
Working for The Rockcrushers has been a great experience but most importantly a wonderful blessing. I come to work every day and learn something new either from our students or from a technical issue that we have never encountered. I will admit there have been many challenges over the years from school security to cyber security. I hope and look forward to continuing learning and being a part of this great team for many more years to come.
Outside of work, I’m a proud father of three amazing children and a devoted husband to my wonderful wife of eight years. I enjoy spending quality time with my family, whether it’s attending youth sports, going fishing, or traveling together.
On this year’s National IT Day - My advice to anyone just starting out in the IT field is to always remember the people you’re helping. Be patient and supportive with everyone—regardless of their age or level of technical knowledge. Treat others with kindness and respect and aim to make your end users feel comfortable and confident when reaching out to you. Most importantly, remember that your colleagues and students are not just tickets or work orders—they’re people. Build relationships, not just solutions.
Last but certainly not least, I give all honor and glory to God for everything He has done for me and my family throughout the years of my career. May the Good Lord always be with you and everyone.”
Both students and staff of The Knippa Independent School District, appreciate the diligence and hard work Mr. Cordova has accomplished over these past 19 years.
